ASTM A193 Grade B7 Stud Bolt coupled with a pair of ATM A194 2H nuts are most commonly used for bolting Carbon Steel Pipelines, and are the recommended Bolting system (torque) For all ASME B16.50 gaskets with torque values listed for:
- Cut Gaskets, compressed non-asb and
- PTFE based materials and SPIRAL WOUND GASKETS (see our Gasket section for torque details)
Stud Bolt Sizing:
Studs are measured parallel to the axis (L) from the first to the thread without the chamfers (points). S = free threads equals 1/3 time bolt dia (see charts for details)

A heat treated chrome-Moly steel widely used for medium high temperature service( -50 900oF)
ASTM A193, Grade B16
A heat treated chrome-Moly steel for high pressure, high temperature service( -50 to 1100 o F ) ASTM A193, Grade B8 Stainless Steel 304 , used in corrosive environments ( -325 to 1500 o F )
ASTM A193, Grade B8M
Stainless Steel 316, used in corrosive environments ( -325 to 1500 o F )
ASTM A320, Grade L7M
Designed for use in low temperature corrosive environments, controlled hardness to 235 Brinell maximum. ( -150 to 1100 o F )
B7 Bolt Coatings
ASTM A-193 B7 bolts can also be coated in a wide range of materials, including:
- Flouropolymer coatings -Blue Xylan and Blue Teflon
- Molybdenum Disulfide
- Epoxy Coatings – Thermal cure
- Phosphate coating – Manganese and Zinc
Coated grade B7 bolt studs may not be able to withstand the extreme temperatures as listed above.

Standard kits are available for all ASME flange sizes ½” to 24” Our Flange Bolt / Stud Kits are provided with the B7 A193 Stud bolt, 2H A194 nuts, and washers ( if requested) STUD packs are also available in , B7 PTFE Coated, Stainless Steel B8M and B7 A193 Zinc plated (150# flanges ½” to 12”)
